Sunflower Garden, my home-based preschool which began seven years ago in the Zilker neighborhood in central Austin, has joyfully moved to the country, to the Heritage Oaks neighborhood near Dripping Springs. Some of the families have moved with me and we're playing in the beautiful meadow here, with bluebirds and butterflies around us!
My work is based on LifeWays principles and practices. It's a warm, home-life program that in our light-filled space brings nurturing care, practical life skills such as building, gardening, tending animals, cleaning, cooking, washing, repairing and sewing, imaginative play with simple, natural toys, artistic activities, movement games, singing, storytelling and puppetry. A deep resonance with nature and the seasons threads through all we do.
I graduated from LifeWays Early Childhood and Human Development Training in September 2013. It was truly wonderful, teaching profoundly and with much laughter about children, families and life. I recommend it for all parents, no matter how old your children are! You can read more about LifeWays at http://www.lifewaysnorthamerica.org/.
Through the school year I take up to six children children aged one to five each day, Monday through Thursday from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm and Fridays 8:45 am to 12:45 pm. There are half day and part time options, and a separate summer program.
I provide a mostly organic, locally-sourced, vegetarian snack and lunch. Monthly fees are based on a rate of $38 per morning and $48 per full day.
